Christmas camp Update

I just posted the following on the parents blog:

Christmas camp Update- Day 3-6

Hope everyone made it home and into some dry clothes! What an interesting day “weather-wise”- we had hot, we had cold weather, we had snow and we had rain… we had it all! But all things considered- I think the racers had another solid day of skiing! Surely, it was wonderful to see everyone working hard on snow!

We are hoping that you caught our announcement regarding the end of christmas camp at the end of the day today… as promised, here’ s a re-cap on the blog:

Tomorrow, Day 3- December 28th: 8:30am start. It will be another SL training day. We will continue with the 30 minute lunches staggered between leagues to help with the clubhouse congestion and camp will end at 2:30pm.

NG assessments: Coaches and myself will be around to do some skills assessments tomorrow in each NG team.

Thursday, December 29th- day 4: 8:30am start again. We will most likely be training SL all day again due to limited terrain space, but should the temperature drop within the next 24 hours and we are able to see more snow being made, we may ask those with 2 pairs of skis to bring both for a chance to ski their GS in the morning. More updates to follow tomorrow. Don’t forget to come and check out our Wine and Cheese event at Gambrel Barn from 3-6pm. This is a great apres-ski opportunity to meet MHRC families, coordinators, board members and coaches.

K1- assessment: You may have seen some coaches out there video-taping some of the K1 teams today- we will continue to do this tomorrow and again on Thursday. If we are able to obtain some lane space either on the 28th or 29th- we will try to run either a GS or Stubbie informal SL time trial to aid in doing team selection at the K1 level.

Friday, December 30th- day 5

NG & K1′s will be training at Glen Eden from 8:30am-2:30pm.

K2 & J’s will be training at Mount St Louis, Moonstone from 8:30-3:00pm. We ask that everyone meet in the main lodge for 8:00am. We will orchestrate lift tickets at this time with the hopes to be on snow as soon as the lift opens. We hope to be able to assess both SL and GS on this day with some timed runs so please be prepared with the proper equipment to run full gate SL and GS. A reminder to familiarize yourself with our team selection guidelines policy on our website  and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask one of your race directors or myself for clarifications.

Saturday, December 30th- day 6: All Training will be cancelled for this day. Enjoy your New Year’s eve!

Sunday, January 1st– Team and Coach selection will be announced via blog and website today.

Do note that our league training officially begins on Saturday, January 7th and Sunday January 8th. Evening training begins on Monday, January 9th… We have had some discussion on a make-up date for the 6th day of camp, but have not made a final decision yet, rest assure that we will advise you on blog as soon as possible.

I believe that is all for now. Please enjoy your evening and see most of you on snow tomorrow.

Your head coach

Thank you for another successful day at Glen Eden. A reminder to please arrive in the clubhouse for 7:45 and on snow for 8am tomorrow. Hope you all have a great night and here’s to hoping for another great day on snow.
